Tariquia, Tarija, Bolivia

Birds observed in and near the reserve of Tariquia, dpto. Tarija, Bolivia, in September/October 1992 (178 KB, pdf document, see below about how to read it). A detailed trip report with data on all species seen or heard during several long walks that I made in and near the extensive "Reserva Nacional de Flora y Fauna Tariquia". 209 species were observed, of which 31 were not previously recorded in Tarija. Some of the birds encountered: Black-and-white Hawk-Eagle Spizastur melanoleucus, Red-faced Guan Penelope dabbenei, Alder Parrot Amazona tucumana (common), Rufous-throated Dipper Cinclus schulzi (common along mountain streams) and Short-tailed Finch Idiopsar brachyurus.
